Foil and epee fencing programs for kids and adults

Classes at Augusta Fencing Club are available for all ages and experience levels. With Kids’ Classes for those as young as 7, Adult Beginner Classes, and Competitive Team training programs, AFC has fencing for everyone.

To start fencing at Augusta Fencing Club, check out our Intro Classes below. All new fencers must complete Intro Classes before registering for a weekly class.

Once a fencer has completed an Intro Class they are able to join an established class.

Introductory Classes

Ages 7+

Intro Sessions are designed for athletes with no fencing experience so they can learn the basics of footwork and fencing vocabulary. These small, coach-guided sessions help our new fencers jump right in to group classes.

After fencers complete an Intro Session, they are able to join the class for their chosen weapon. â€‹

All monthly classes are billed the first of the month.

For fencers enjoying a more casual practice of the sport. Fencing is a lifetime sport, it’s never too late to start.

AFC has multiple options for fencers. There are classes designed for those who have never fenced before, experienced fencers, and those in between.

Private Lessons

Classes provide additional instruction, but the fine-tuning of fencing reflexes required for successful competition almost certainly requires private 1:1 instruction. And while the clubs classes are currently only for foil and epee fencers, private lessons are available in all three weapons. Lessons typically last 25 minutes and are individually
scheduled with Dr. Volkmann, Sarah Bender, or Collin McCoy.
